MEET Day at the 2015 Museums Australia National Conference

As part of the Museums Australia conference, a new combined education, audience research/evaluation and digital technologies pre-conference day will run on Thursday 21 May, 2015. The day is a joint initiative of MAE (Museums Australia Education), EVR (Evaluation and Visitor Research) and MuseTech.

MEET will be a day of presentations, discussions and networking to share ideas and activities. The morning will consist of lightning talks focused around a series of themes. The afternoon sessions will be an opportunity to dig deeper into agreed areas of interest. Based on the unconference model, attendees will have a chance to submit a topic they’d like to work on with others.

Beyond the talks and discussion, the day will also generate a series of provocations – questions or ideas for attendees to ponder through the rest of the conference.

Date: Thursday 21 May, 2015, 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM (AEST)

Venue: Australian National Maritime Museum, 2 Murray Street Sydney NSW 2000.

  2. Dear MAE members,

Perhaps you’ve heard about the museum education, evaluation and tech day (MEET) to be held on 21 May at the National Australian Maritime Museum, prior to the Museums Australia 2015 annual conference? The day will provide a great opportunity to bring together Australia’s experts in education, evaluation, and the digital to explore the intersections between these areas.

You can find more information about the day here: http://goo.gl/wnjgkC

We hope the day will be dynamic and participatory and so invite you to attend the day and consider proposing a ‘lightning talk’ (either a 3 minute presentation or a 7 minute presentation) that speaks to some aspect of education, evaluation or digital as it relates to your work.

We’re asking participants to frame their talk within one of these three key areas:
    – I have a big idea
    – I have problem
    – I have something I need help with

We’re looking forward to a valuable and exciting set of presentations that help shape the dialogue and debate in the afternoon sessions of the MEET day and further into the main conference (and beyond).

If you’re interested in presenting a lightning talk please email Angela Casey angela.casey@nma.gov.au with a lightning talk title and a brief outline of your proposed presentation. The committee will aim to select a range of talks that represent education, evaluation and digital. We’ll also supply a presentation template for speakers to use.

Conference attendees can register for the day via the Museums Australia conference conlog site: http://www.ma2015.org.au

Those who are not attending the main conference but would like to participate in the MEET day can do so by registering via our Event Brite site: http://goo.gl/a1iMFB

Looking forward to seeing you there!
