Kelly Carabott (Monash University) introduces the MAEd New Term 1 workshop at the Powerhouse Museum on 5 April 2014: “Switch On, Plug In, Power Up: using digital resources for authentic learning”. Demonstrates some tools for surveying learner entering behaviour, and self-introductions. Establishes the principles of 21st century learning (flipping Bloom’s Taxonomy), as a basis for using digital resources in education programs.

Switch on 4 Pecha kucha three sites
In the fourth session of “Switch On, Plug In, Power Up: using digital resources for authentic learning”, several Informal Learning Environments showcase how they are using digital resources in their education programs. In the Pecha Kucha (20 slides of 20 seconds each), there are brief presentations from the Australian War Memorial (Stuart Baines), the Australian Museum (Jenny Horder), and the Powerhouse Museum (Tilly Boleyn).
Switch on 5 Playfulness
Concluding the MAEd New workshop “Switch On, Plug In, Power Up: using digital resources for authentic learning”, Kelly Carabott emphasises the fundamental attitude to have in exploring digital resources: playfulness.
